It was a very calm day where I heard that suprising news about my favorite band, White Shoes & The Couples Company was releasing some new music. I surprised, really. Because the last time they dropped their second album, the gap from the first was reaaaally long (from 2005 to 2010.) But then, I realized that this album was not containing new music. It just has some compilation from their live performances, that I still love it tho.
White Shoes & The Couples Company is one of the band that make a live performance truly energic. The song itself, that they perform, might be a total different from the record. And that's the amazing part!
So last week, me and my friend, Anton decided to go to their gigs. The place was located at W_Space that was really hard to find, really. Once the taxi driver dropped us there, We surprised that the show was exclusively made for only 150 people (waiting line system was applied there.)

From the outdoor, We can easily see this kind of diorama that the band put their "timelines" there. Such as, their old albums, stickers, artwork, posters, and anykind of artwork their made from the beginning of their career.
When I got into the room, the only place I really wanted to be was THE MERCHANDISE BOOTH lol! Of course, they made special offers too (bundle of new record, t-shirt, and totebag for only IDR 150K.) And as always, with their signature "vintage artworks" printed on it.
The show started not so long after that, with unique formation! They had an "O" formation where each personnel had to see another personnel's face and We, as the crowd had to see the band's back during the show. Not a big deal!

They performed for 90 minutes, and the songs were totally different! It's not the usual songs they used to perform, but morely like, the rare songs from each albums like Topstar, Bersandar, and Brother John. So there wasn't any Vakansi or Windu & Defrina.

During the show, Sari and Mela had some collaboration they called as "Duo." Sari played Ukulele and Mela in acoustic guitar. They performed Bersandar and Summer Rain (from another band's single.) Same as Sari and Mela, the boys (Ricky, John, Rio and Ale) had their performance too! They sang some chillin song titled La Javanese and a cover from Pure Saturday's Pathetic Waltz.
And in the middle of the show, they gave us some sneak peek for their upcoming EP that they promised will go out next year. A new song with folklore taste but with some summersurf-ish jamming. They didn't tell us the title BUT I "stole" the tracklist paper on the floor and it's written "Tjang Kerileng." Can't wait!

The show was very intimate, We could even had some chit chat with the personnels after the show. Most people asked them for photo or autograph, as I did too. They were very kind! They always do that everytime! That's why I worship them as my favorite Indie band.

Anyways, there was a big silkscreen poster on the wall that all crowd craving for it, I got it! But then I realized that I couldn't get that kind of big thing home. So I gave it away to this nice girl from Canada I met. She was really nice, she told me that she's been in Jakarta for 1 week. And that kind of music (White Shoes) was really new for her. We exchanged blog addresses but too bad I lost her url :-( So if you read this, I hope you can leave a comment! I'd like to read your blog too! :-)

That's all for now! For more photos from the show, you can go to my Facebook (friend me first) here!
